As one of the most populated counties in the country, it's no surprise that Essex has a superb choice of pet shops and pet professionals that can help with any animal requirement. The major towns of Chelmsford, Basildon, Harlow, Thurrock and Southend-on-Sea each have a particularly impressive choice of pet shops, although there are many more dotted all around the county.
Essex has far more to offer the animal-lover than just traditional pet shops though. You won't struggle to find a generous selection of vets, grooming salons, dog walkers and even photographers that specialise in animal portraits.
Anglian Animal Feeds are based in Finchingfield. Not only do they sell pet food for the tiniest hamster up to the largest horse, they'll also deliver it anywhere in Essex or Suffolk. Hazelwood Cat Rescue Centre in Stanford-le-Hope is also worth a mention for the excellent work they do in looking after sick and abandoned cats and kittens.
